Sporty primary pupils in Kenton have triumphed in an inter-borough football competition becoming the first Jewish school ever to win it.

Sinai Jewish Primary School, in Shakespeare Drive, soared to a 4-0 victory over defending Kingsbury champions St Robert Southwell School in the Brent Cup Football Tournament on March 29.

In the first half of play at the Silver Jubilee Park the Sinai boys took the lead thanks to a goal from Year six student Ollie Tibber who went on to strike again in the second half with teammates Alex Brickman and Max Frankel.

The victory means that the school, which has never got beyond the quarter finals in the competition, gets to keep the trophy for a year.

Year six player Dylan Stiassny said, “It’s just amazing! We are so excited. It’s such an honour and we are so proud to have won for our school.”

Robbie Solomons, year five teacher and coach, added: “We are immensely proud of this sporting achievement, especially as it is the first time that a Jewish school has won the Brent Cup as well.

“The boys worked really hard, showed excellent team work and spirit and thoroughly deserved their victory.”
