A green-fingered residents’ association in Dollis Hill has scored a hat trick after scooping a gardening award for the third year in a row.

Campbell Gordon Way Residents’ Association (CGWRA) scooped two top prizes in this year’s London in Bloom competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society.

This is the third year in a row they have been awarded five stars in the It’s Your Neighbourhood campaign. CGWRA also bagged a gold prize in the ‘Our Community award’, despite this year being the first time they entered the category.

Bernard Fitzpatrick, chairman of CGWRA, said that they “couldn’t have done any better”. He praised the diverse community and has set his sights on claiming the ‘Best in London’ gong next year.

The residents celebrated their success with a party on Saturday night.

The close-knit community are very active throughout the year with Easter egg hunts, trick or treating and a local Christmas tree.

Mr Fitzpatrick awarded locals who have contributed to the estate with prizes of their own on Saturday.

Awards included Resident of the Year, Junior Resident of the Year and Vegetable Patch of the Year.

In the coming weeks the group, which started in 2010, will be unveiling a plaque commemorating the 12 top community awards they have won since their inception.

The association’s efforts will also feature in ‘The London Garden Book A-Z’ by Abigail Willis which is due for publication in early November.
