A woman who ran over and killed a two-year-old girl in a supermarket car park in Wembley has been given a suspended jail sentence today.

Hoden Aden, 44, of Macarthur Close, Wembley told police she thought she had hit a trolley when she struck Fahima Hassan as the tot and her mother left Asda in Forty Lane.

The pair were near a zebra style crossing when Fahima was hit by Aden’s Volkswagen Tigua.

Fahima, who lived in Kingsbury, died from her injuries later that day on September 11, 2014.

Aden was interviewed twice under caution and subsequently charged in December last year last year.

Last month at Harrow Crown Court she was convicted by a jury of causing death by careless driving.

She was sentenced today to 14 months in jail suspended for two years, banned from driving for 18 months starting on September 26, ordered to carry out 120 hours of community work within a year.

She must also pay court costs of £120.

Following Aden’s conviction Detective Sergeant Stephen Pidgeon of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Alperton, said: “Hoden Aden has had to face up to the fact that her careless driving resulted in the avoidable death of a two-year-old child.”
