A pervert who hid naked behind a bin before pouncing on a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her in a drug-fuelled attack has been jailed.

Daniel Patel, 26, fled the scene and was still naked when he was discovered hopping over garden fences in Kenmore Road, Kenton, shortly after the attack in June last year.

He resisted arrest forcing officers to use CS gas to safely detain him.

Harrow Crown Court also heard he had set fire to two cars on April 3 and 6 last year.

Following his arrest a spate of arson attacks in Harrow came to an end.

Yesterday he was convicted of one count of sexual assault and one count of arson following a four day trial and was jailed for five years.

DC Janine Stevenson who investigated the sexual assault said: “Patel’s disturbing and predatory behaviour that day resulted in a young woman being left traumatised and haunted by what happened to her.

“His attack was fuelled by drugs and his own selfish desire for sexual gratification.

“I would like to thank the victim, her family and all the witnesses involved in this case for their courage, cooperation and patience during this investigation which was crucial in securing this conviction of a dangerous sexual predator and ensuring the future safety of the community.”
