Officer headbutted 14-year-old after pulling over the car he was travelling in
A police officer who assaulted a schoolboy after stopping the car he was travelling in has received a suspended jail sentence today (Monday).
Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard Pc Karl Bartlett opened the car door and headbutted the 14-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, after the vehicle was stopped in Hanger Lane, Alperton.
The 42-year-old, who is based in the Territorial Support Group, pulled over Lee Rosier, 24, for using a mobile phone while driving on March 1 last year.
Mr Rosier and his passenger were said to have suffered a cut lip and facial injuries.
Bartlett was convicted of common assault last month, regarding the attack on the teenager, and sentenced to three months in jail suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to carry out 18 hours unpaid work.
Pc Colin Nye, 37, was acquitted of the same charge and Pc Anthony Read, 35, was cleared of assaulting Mr Rosier.
Bartlett is currently suspended from duty and may face a misconduct hearing.
