Armed officers were called in after a gang carrying knives chased a man down a street in broad daylight.

Police rushed to a block of flats in Ealing Road, Alperton, after receiving reports of a car colliding with a wall at about 1.45pm yesterday.

Eyewitnesses described seeing a number of people – some of whom were armed with knives – jump out of the car and chase another man down the road.

The man being pursued was found uninjured by police and seven people were later arrested at a nearby address on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “Enquiries into the circumstances continue by officers from Brent. This is not a terrorist incident.”
