The founder of a bookshop specializing in BAME characters is launching a pop up library in Harlesden for a month.
Angel Miller is bringing her No Ordinary Bookshop to the Unity Centre in Church Road from 3pm to 6pm every Monday until August 20.
The 57-year-old, who has seven grandchildren, has launched the initiative #BLACKtoreading to encourage children to get to read one book a week for the next six weeks.
She said: “Parents will be able to see what kind of books are available for their children as many simply do not know. In my experience, even just one positive image or idea can elevate a child’s self-esteem, while educating them and inspiring them in a positive reflection of their cultural heritage.”
She added: “My mission is to build our community one book at a time.”
The library is open July 30 and August 6, 13 and 20.
