A mental health charity in Brent has produced a short film playing in cinemas.
Brent Mind has produced its film “Get Talking” as part of Mental Health Awareness Week which will be shown in Curzon Cinemas until May 22.
The moving campaign conveys the importance of talking as a first step towards recovery from mental health problems.
The film features the Bafta winning actor Adam Deacon, DJ Trevor Nelson and Classical Pianist James Rhodes who have either a first hand experience of mental health or a friend who does.
Brent Mind service users Carol, who lives with schizophrenia, and Emi, a teenage girl who has previously self-harmed, also both talk bravely and emotively about their experiences with mental health in the film.
Brent is also one of the worst boroughs for mental health with an estimated 80,000 people experiencing a mental health problem.
A Brent Mind spokeswoman said: “With one in every four people experiencing a mental health problem every year, there has never been a better time to get talking.”
