A MOTION backing the Times' campaign to bring home Guantanamo Bay detainee Jamil el-Banna has received full support from councillors.

The motion, which was put forward by Brent Council leader, Cllr Paul Lorber, was approved at a meeting on Monday.

Dawn Butler, Labour MP for Brent South, also added her name to the Times' campaign.

The added support comes three weeks after Mr el-Banna was cleared for release from the US detention camp after more than four years behind bars.

But the 45-year-old father of five now risks being sent back to face torture in his native Jordan, unless the Home Office allows him to return to Britain.

His five children, all British citizens, wait at home in Dollis Hill for his return.

Every name counts.
