Having a ball
 | | Stuart Barrett |
A quick-thinking, quick stepping, resident plans to teach people how to dance by converting a derelict cinema into a grand ballroom.
Stuart Barrett, of Callcott Road, Kilburn, was hit by the dancing bug when he became a finalist on the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever programme, a fortnight ago.
Stuart, who works for a charity organisation, has contacted Rank group Plc the owners of Willesden Lane Cinema with his plans to convert it into a magnificent building.
His brainwave came about after he totted-up the mounting costs of indulging in the fat-burning hobby.
The grand figure made him realised most people would find it a financial struggle to participate.
He said: "Strictly Dance School will run as a non-profit making catering for people of all ages abilities and races by giving free dance classes. Often people who would like to get the opportunity to learn find they cannot afford to do so. I would use the building as an events facility in the day. I know it's a big idea but I want to raise the profile, and it would be good for the community."
Stuart, originally from Castleford, West Yorkshire, found himself catapulted into the media limelight after featuring on the show, despite not winning.
He said: "I got tangled up in my microphone. It was embarrassing, but now everyone remembers me."
He is appealing for any people interested to visit www.strictlydanceschool.org.uk
