Neighbourhood team's bid to beat anti-social behaviour

A HARDWORKING police team is reaching out to fearful residents in the hope of beating anti-social behaviour.

Preston Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is organising a street briefing where people who live in and around the Hirst Crescent Estate in North Wembley, can talk to officers about anything that concerns them.

Neighbourhood Watch teams will also be taking part in the drive by the team to provide residents with a safe and comfortable environment where they can talk about matters that worry them.

Sgt Mick How, Preston SNT, said: "We are totally committed to ensuring all residents of Preston can go about their lives in peace.

"We often hear about issues on the Hirst Crescent Estate but we rarely get anyone telling us what they are and where they are.

"We cannot take action without knowing what is going on and often we get a second-hand message without enough information such as addresses or times things happen.

"This is an opportunity for people to come and talk to us in complete privacy and share any concerns they may have.

"We look forward to engaging with the people of Preston and working with them to continue to make the area a safer, better place to live."

The team, who recently delighted residents by organising security lighting in Grasmere Avenue, have been working hard on relations with the community for the past year.

They also worked with Brent Parks Department to get King Edward VII Park in Park Lane, Wembley, closed at night time to curb loutish behaviour.

The street briefing will take place in The Community Centre at 1 Lambert Walk, North Wembley, tom orrow (Friday) from 5.30pm.

For more information or to contact Preston SNT confidentially regarding any crime or issues you are concerned about call 020 8721 2968 or 07920 233 753.

For non-emergency calls anywhere in the borough call 0300 123 1212 or in an emergency dial 999.
